After is Better than the Party becomes After je Bolji od Partija in Croatian, shortened into the four-letter acronym ABOP. It’s an award-winning, critically acclaimed Croatian electronic music band drawing inspiration from acid house, techno, electro, and other early electronic dance genres. Their shows feel like a full-on rave. The crowd is getting locked in a trance, but there’s no DJ. Instead, ABOP is a five-piece live electronic band performing on stage.
At the core there are two drummers, Ivan Levačić and Ivan Vodopija, sharing a single drum kit. This unique setup forms both the visual and sonic centerpiece of their sound. They’re joined by deep bass lines from Erol Zejnilović, digital synths by Ivan Božanić, and analog machines played by Bogumil Kulaga.
Their latest album even picked up a few Croatian Album of the Year 2025 awards, but to be honest, ABOP is best consumed live.
